Choosing the right window furnishing for your property

So you’ve just bought a new home! Or perhaps you’re about to put your home up for sale. Either scenario will require you to look at your window furnishings as this is easy way of maximising value to your home for a relatively small investment.

With so many options now for internal window furnishings, it can be hard to know what product will suit your property best.  Here’s an overview of some of our key products:

  • Roller Blinds – these are simple and easy to use and give a less cluttered look.  There are many options such as light filtering, sunscreen or blockout, and they are designed to give privacy, light and sun protection. Auto remote operation is in ever increasing demand for these products, especially when they are a number of windows involved.
  • Panel Glides – we love these for sliding or stacker doors. They are elegant in design and can be made from the same fabric as roller blinds so if you have a combination of windows and doors, the look would be seamless for both your roller blinds and panel glides throughout your home.
  • Venetians – there are some great options with venetians now, starting from coloured slimline aluminium or composite timber look or western red cedar.  Slimline aluminium venetians work well in wet areas such as laundries, bathrooms or toilets.  White composite venetians are very popular as a modern look and are a cheaper alternative to white painted shutters. Venetians give good airflow when open but can quickly be adjusted to control light and heat.
  • Verticals – these are very inexpensive and good for rental properties and work well on sliding or stacker doors too. To assist with child safety concerns regarding corded internal window furnishings, verticals can now be operated by a hand held wand and with weights along the bottom, without chains now.
